As part of a broader effort to achieve greater impact and sustainability for their projects and increase their contribution to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, in 2000 the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) initiated a process of mainstreaming Sustainable Livelihoods Approaches into their work. As part of this process, IMM was asked to develop, together with staff from the Technical Division of IFAD, a set of training materials on Sustainable Livelihoods and organise a series of training events for IFAD staff and consultants. Using these materials, IMM provided facilitation for four workshops in Italy for IFAD HQ staff and Europe-based consultants as well as for workshops held in Albania and in Chile for regional consultants and project staff. The materials have subsequently been widely used for other regional workshops held worldwide.
